Nina Simone- Nina Simone-LP

• Format: LP

Nina Simone’s self-titled album from 1965 offers a focused listening experience where her skills as both arranger and conductor shine through, supported by a compact ensemble that includes Buddy Lucas on harmonica. The set blends jazz, blues, and soul with a refined touch, featuring tracks like "Black Is The Color" and "Stella By Starlight" that highlight her nuanced piano work and vocal depth. Produced by Danny Davis and Joe René, the record balances Simone’s artistic control with polished studio craftsmanship, making it a distinctive entry in her catalog that bridges intimate performance with studio precision. This vinyl pressing carries the catalog number UPF-145 on UpFront Records and stands as a vintage pressing from 1965. Its VG+ condition indicates it plays well with only minor surface marks or scuffs typical of everyday use—nothing that should overshadow the listening experience. If your collection appreciates albums where the artist’s vision runs as deep as the grooves, this one holds its own without needing to shout; after all, Nina Simone didn’t need to raise her voice to make a statement.
