Ray Charles- Ingredients In A Recipe For Soul-LP

• Format: LP

Ingredients in a Recipe for Soul showcases Ray Charles at a moment when his artistry was enriched by lush arrangements from Benny Carter, Sid Feller, and Marty Paich. The album blends his soulful voice with contributions from The Ray Charles Big Band and The Jack Halloran Singers, offering a rich palette that ranges from the heartfelt "Busted" to the reflective "Ol' Man River." Tracks like "That Lucky Old Sun" and "You'll Never Walk Alone" demonstrate why Charles could navigate both popular and jazz idioms with equal conviction. The presence of engineers Bob Arnold and Bill Putnam under Sid Feller’s production shapes the sound into a polished yet intimate listening experience, perfect for dedicated fans of focused, acoustic ensembles. This 1963 vinyl pressing brings that sophisticated blend to your turntable, presenting the album as it was heard closer to its original release. The record is graded VG, meaning it shows some signs of wear and may have light background noise, but remains fully playable without skipping. For those who appreciate the intersection of soul and jazz with orchestral finesse, this pressing offers a direct connection to Ray Charles’s evolving sound. And in a collection, it’s a reminder that even a recipe for soul benefits from a little arranging spice.
