Redd Foxx’s Laff Of The Party Volume 8 captures the humor and storytelling style of one of America’s pioneering stand-up comedians. Recorded in 1959, this album offers a glimpse into Foxx’s sharp wit and candid approach, with tracks like "The Jig Is Up" and "The Two Nuts" showcasing his knack for blending everyday observations with a bold, unfiltered delivery. Foxx’s influence echoes through the work of later comics such as Richard Pryor, making this record a valuable piece for those interested in the roots of stand-up comedy. This vinyl pressing from 1959 carries the charm of vintage audio without veering into the fragile territory of a museum piece. Graded VG+, it’s a solid choice for listeners who want a dependable play with only minor surface marks that shouldn’t interfere with the jokes landing just right. Collectors and comedy fans will appreciate this LP not only for its content but also as a tangible connection to the era when stand-up was carving out its place on the record shelf—proof that sometimes, the party really does start with a good laugh.
