Like to Get to Know You captures Spanky & Our Gang at a moment when their blend of sunshine pop and intricate vocal harmonies found a sharper focus, thanks to producers Bob Dorough and Stuart Scharf who aligned well with the group’s authentic sound. The album features the hit title track "Like To Get To Know You," which made a notable splash on the U.S. charts, alongside a thoughtful take on "Stardust" and the Margo Guryan-penned "Sunday Mornin," linking this set to a broader 1960s singer-songwriter scene. The mix of catchy melodies and subtle arrangements reveals a band comfortable with both accessible pop and more nuanced musical moments, making this their second studio album a worthwhile listen for anyone interested in the era’s softer side of rock. This 1968 pressing on vinyl offers a solid example for collectors who want an everyday player with a bit of history in its grooves. The record is graded VG+, indicating it carries some light surface marks and paper scuffs typical of a well-loved copy but should still provide reliable playback without dominating noise. Given the album’s mid-century pop appeal, it’s the sort of record that finds its place easily anywhere from a vocal harmony shelf to a broader 60s pop collection—proving that sometimes getting to know a record can be as rewarding as the song title suggests.
