The Damned- Anything-LP

Anythin captures The Damned during a phase where their punk roots gave way to a more polished, mainstream rock approach, a shift that frontman Dave Vanian later viewed with mixed feelings. The album stands out visually thanks to its carved and painted cover art, a tactile expression that contrasts with the slicker sound inside. Among its tracks, the band’s rendition of Love’s “Alone Again Or” adds a layer of 1960s psychedelia filtered through The Damned’s distinct style, making it a compelling reinterpretation within this seventh studio effort. This 1986 vinyl pressing offers a solid listen typical of mid-80s production values, pressed from the sessions at Denmark’s Puk Recording Studios under Jon Kelly’s guidance. The record’s VG+ condition suggests light surface marks or minor paper scuffs might be present but shouldn’t interfere with playback—just the kind of wear you’d expect from a well-cared-for player on the shelf. After all, every collection needs a record that walks the tightrope between punk edge and mainstream polish.
