Kingfish, an American rock band led by Matthew Kelly, emerged in the early 1970s, co-founded by Kelly and Dave Torbert in 1973. They gained momentum after signing their first record contract in 1974, which was bolstered by the addition of Bob Weir. Their initial offerings included the albums "Kingfish" and "Live 'n' Kickin'," featuring notable tracks like "I Hear You Knockin'." Tragedy struck the band when Torbert passed away from a heart attack in 1982 at just 34 years old. Despite this loss, Kingfish regrouped intermittently starting in 1984 and made a notable return to the stage with their first live performance since 1999 on February 20, 2022. The band has faced further heartache with the tragic death of member Danny DeGennaro in 2011.
