Warne Marsh, born on October 26, 1927, in Los Angeles, was a notable American tenor saxophonist recognized for his unique approach to jazz. He was mentored by pianist Lennie Tristano, which significantly influenced his style, emphasizing harmony rather than melody. In the 1970s, Marsh gained prominence as a member of Supersax, a group celebrated for its intricate arrangements and improvisational skill. Throughout his career, Marsh recorded several acclaimed works, including the album "All Music," featuring the Supersax rhythm section. One of his notable tracks is "Out of Nowhere," which showcases his exceptional talent. Tragically, Marsh passed away from a heart attack while performing on stage on December 18, 1987. He is laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
