Bette Midler’s 1985 release Mud Will Be Flung Tonight! steps away from her more theatrical work to offer a more intimate, focused listening experience with an acoustic ensemble setting. The album balances humor and insight across tracks like “Fat As I Am” and “Madonna And Mick,” showcasing Midler’s sharp wit and storytelling within a compact band framework. It’s a record that invites attention to her vocal nuance and lyric-driven moments, rather than the usual Broadway-style spectacle. This vinyl pressing from 1985 presents the album clearly, with very clean, glossy grooves showing only minor surface marks that won’t distract from playback. The 12-inch format gives space for the acoustic textures to breathe, making it a solid choice for those interested in Midler’s less commercial, more personal side. It’s a record that holds its own without needing to fling mud around—sometimes subtlety is the sharpest tool in the shed.
