• Label: King Records

The Many Moods Of Bill Doggett captures the organist’s shift from swing roots into rhythm and blues, offering a focused listening experience with an acoustic small-group feel. Known for instrumental hits like "Honky Tonk," Doggett brings a playful edge here, especially on "Real Gone Mambo," where his organ work dances lively through the mix. The cover’s stylized art, depicting Doggett at the organ, hints at the album’s intimate yet dynamic sound. This 1962 pressing on King presents the album in a classic vinyl format, suitable for listeners who appreciate mid-century R&B textures. The record grades VG+, indicating light surface marks that are typical for everyday play but shouldn’t overpower the music. If you’re arranging your collection to spotlight skilled organists or the crossroads of swing and early rock and roll, this record fits neatly—proving that even moods can have their own groove.
