Country Joe and The Fish – I Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die

Country Joe and The Fish’s I Feel Like I’m Fixin’ To Die pushed the band’s psychedelic rock into sharper satirical territory, using counterculture humor to take on the Vietnam War and more. Musically, it is a prime example of their experimentation, with organ-heavy psychedelia, Eastern melodic lines, and more acoustic guitar than their debut. The record also belongs to the moment when the band’s reputation was growing through appearances at places like the Fillmore Auditorium and festivals including Monterey Pop and The Fantasy Faire. Samuel Charters is among the producers, adding another useful piece of period context. This is a 1967 mono vinyl pressing priced at $14, making it an affordable copy of a key counterculture-era rock album. The record is graded VG+, a strong everyday listening grade where a few light lines, sleeve marks, or small scuffs may be present, but not wear that should dominate the music.
