Gary Moore – Over the Hills and Far Away

Gary Moore’s Over the Hills and Far Away catches him in his Wild Frontier period, when his hard-rock writing was reaching a broad European audience. Issued as the lead single from Wild Frontier, it charted strongly in the UK and reached the top in Finland and Norway. The wrongful-accusation story in the lyrics gives the record a narrative pull, with roots in an older country-ballad tradition. This copy is a 1986 UK import vinyl pressing, a nice period piece for anyone following Moore’s mid-’80s hard rock catalog. At $20, the main copy-specific appeal is the import pressing paired with a high record grade. The vinyl is graded VG++, meaning it should be a very clean, glossy copy overall, with only very small light marks, sleeve scuffs, or faint lines expected for the grade.
