Newborn stands out as James Gang’s unique entry on Atlantic Records, arriving in 1975 with a blend of rock that includes their take on Elvis Presley’s "Heartbreak Hotel." The album also features the single "Merry-Go-Round," which captures a moment of the band’s evolving sound. Visually, the cover’s use of Salvador Dalí’s 'Geopoliticus Child Watching the Birth of the New Man' adds a surreal touch that hints at the album’s creative ambitions, making it a notable piece in the band’s catalog. This 1975 vinyl pressing offers a solid, glossy play surface with only minor light marks that shouldn’t affect listening. For collectors or listeners drawn to James Gang’s mid-’70s phase, this LP provides a clear window into their Atlantic period. It’s a pressing that keeps things straightforward—no surprises in the grooves, just the music and an artful cover that might inspire a second look, even when you’re hunting through the rock section.
