Jimmy Smith’s Crazy Baby puts his organ out front in a lean trio setting with Quentin Warren on guitar and Donald Bailey on drums. That compact lineup is a big part of the appeal: plenty of room for Smith’s dynamic organ playing, with Warren and Bailey keeping the hard bop framework tight. The set includes “Mack The Knife” and “A Night In Tunisia,” giving the record recognizable entry points alongside Smith’s Blue Note organ-jazz drive. This is a 1960 mono Blue Note vinyl pressing, a nice period format for a Jimmy Smith title. The vinyl is graded VG, meaning more visible wear should be expected and some background noise is possible, though the music remains the focus at this grade.
