John Entwistle’s Smash Your Head Against the Wall offers a glimpse into the bassist’s solo vision beyond his work with The Who, blending focused listening moments with a tight acoustic ensemble feel. Tracks like "I Believe In Everything" and "What Are We Doing Here?" reveal his knack for blending introspective lyrics with inventive arrangements, standing apart from his band’s more bombastic style. This album sits comfortably in the realm of thoughtful rock, where Entwistle’s compositional skills and distinctive voice come to the fore. This 1981 vinyl pressing brings that early ’70s material into a format that’s straightforward and approachable, ideal for someone who appreciates the era without chasing an original ’71 issue. The record is graded VG, so expect some visible wear and the possibility of background noise, but fully playable and ready to share Entwistle’s solo statements. It’s the kind of record that might prompt a double-take in the focused listening section—you don’t often find a bass player stepping front and center with such assured artistry.
