John Prine’s Diamonds In The Rough offers a quietly compelling collection that highlights his knack for storytelling through an intimate acoustic ensemble. This 1972 pressing reveals Prine’s gift for blending gentle melodies with lyrics that range from wry observations in "Billy The Bum" to the reflective mood of "The Great Compromise." The album’s focus on nuanced, small ensemble arrangements invites attentive listening, rewarding those who appreciate songwriting that’s both thoughtful and unpretentious. It’s the kind of record that proves simplicity can carry a sharp wit—though you might not find a single diamond actually hiding in the rough here. This vinyl pressing from 1972 comes in very good plus condition, presenting glossy surfaces with only minor paper scuffs and faint marks that should not interfere with playback. The acoustic textures and Prine’s warm voice come through clearly, making this a solid choice for fans who want a vintage feel without the distractions of heavier wear. For anyone adding to a focused listening collection, this record fits neatly in the acoustic singer-songwriter section, and the VG++ grade offers confidence in the disc’s overall care and playability.
