Lee Ritenour’s Rit/2 comes from the period when his jazz-rock work was brushing up against smooth pop crossover territory. Just before this album, material from his 1981 LP Rit reached both the U.S. pop and Adult Contemporary charts, with early MTV exposure giving his music a wider audience beyond the jazz-fusion crowd. That makes Rit/2 an appealing next stop for listeners who like Ritenour’s more polished, song-forward side, with titles here including “Cross My Heart,” “Promises, Promises,” and “Dreamwalkin’.” This is a 1982 vintage vinyl pressing priced at $10.00, so it’s an affordable Lee Ritenour copy with nice shelf appeal for anyone filling in the early-’80s jazz-pop stretch of his catalog.
