Richie Havens’ Somethin' Else Again offers a deep dive into his acoustic artistry, blending thoughtful songwriting with a small ensemble that invites focused listening. Tracks like "No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed" and "Maggie's Farm" showcase Havens’ distinctive voice and rhythmic guitar work, threading socially aware lyrics through a textured yet intimate sound. The album reflects Havens’ unique position in 1960s folk, where his storytelling meets subtle musical complexity rather than loud protest. This 1967 pressing on vinyl presents the album in a format that suits its quiet intensity, making it a solid choice for those who appreciate Havens’ nuanced performances without distraction. The record’s VG+ condition suggests it has been well cared for, with only minor surface marks that shouldn’t interfere with playback. It’s the sort of pressing that invites listeners to lean in—not just another piece on the shelf, but a companion for a thoughtful evening’s spin.
