The Chi-Lites – A Lonely Man

A Lonely Man catches The Chi-Lites in their early-’70s Brunswick period, with lead singer Eugene Record producing and writing much of the material. Released in 1972, it is the group’s fourth studio album, and that Record-led authorship is a big part of its appeal for anyone drawn to Chicago soul with a strong group identity. This is a 1972 vintage vinyl pressing on Brunswick, priced at $18. The record is graded VG++, a high used-vinyl grade that generally points to glossy, very clean vinyl with only very small light marks, sleeve scuffs, or faint lines expected. For a same-year Brunswick copy of a key Chi-Lites soul album, the clean VG++ vinyl grade gives this one especially nice shelf appeal.
