More Hot Rocks (Big Hits & Fazed Cookies) offers a deep dive into The Rolling Stones’ early years, spotlighting tracks like "Tell Me," "Not Fade Away," and "She's A Rainbow" that showcase the band’s knack for blending rock and blues with a subtle acoustic touch. With Brian Jones on harmonica and mellotron, and Mick Jagger adding maracas and tambourine alongside Jack Nitzsche, the album presents a rich, layered sound that’s both focused and expansive. The involvement of multiple engineers including Bill Farley and Glyn Johns reflects the care taken in crafting these recordings, while producers Andrew Loog Oldham and Jimmy Miller helped shape the Stones’ evolving style during this period. This 1984 vinyl pressing brings those classic tracks to life with a solid everyday listening quality, showing only light surface marks typical of its VG+ grade. It’s a reliable edition for those wanting a clear window into the Stones’ formative sounds without hunting down earlier pressings. The 12-inch format suits the album’s length and gives room for the music to breathe, making it a practical choice for collectors who appreciate the band’s acoustic and electric interplay. Sometimes, a little faze in the cookies is just the right spice for a Rolling Stones set.
