Tower Of Power’s We Came To Play from 1978 delivers their signature blend of tight horn arrangements and soulful vocals, with tracks like “Lovin' You Is Gonna See Me Thru” and “Yin-Yang Thang” highlighting the band’s dynamic interplay and groove. Known for their precise horn section and R&B-rooted sound, this album sits at an interesting crossroads where the group balances focused listening with moments that invite body movement, reflecting the band’s evolving lineup that included Lenny Williams and Lenny Pickett. This vintage pressing presents the album on vinyl with a clean appearance and very minor surface imperfections—nothing that should interrupt your enjoyment of the music. The acoustic small ensemble feel shines through clearly, making it a solid choice for those who appreciate finely crafted arrangements with a live energy. At this grade, the record offers a glossy finish and minimal wear, so it’s a dependable copy for both collectors and listeners who want to hear Tower Of Power’s groove without fuss. If your collection has room for a horn section that’s as disciplined as it is soulful, this is a fitting addition.
