Ween- 12 Golden Country Greats-LP

• Format: LP
• Label: Rhino Records (2)
• Catalog number: R1 728691

Ween’s 12 Golden Country Greats delivers a surprising detour into honky-tonk and traditional country, backed by a tight acoustic ensemble that includes notable contributions from Charlie McCoy on harmonica, tenor banjo, tuba, and vibraphone, as well as Buddy Blackmon on banjo. The album’s blend of playful storytelling and authentic country instrumentation makes tracks like "Piss Up A Rope" and "Japanese Cowboy" stand out with a wink—proof that even a band known for genre-bending can find room for a bit of down-home twang. The artwork, featuring pieces by Fredric Sackrider Remington and designs by Chuck DeHaan, complements the album’s rustic vibe without wandering into cliché. This deluxe 2026 Rhino Records edition comes as a sealed three-LP set, making it a solid pick for collectors who prefer their country served on vinyl with a side of visual flair from contributors like Wallace Smith and Emeric E. Vidal. The sealed condition ensures the vinyl remains untouched, so expect a crisp presentation right out of the gate. For those intrigued by Ween’s more focused listening moments, this set offers a rare chance to explore their country-inspired side in full splendor—no need to tiptoe around the genre boundaries here.
