The Time, an American funk rock band, emerged from Minneapolis in 1981 and played a significant role in shaping the Minneapolis sound, which blends elements of funk, R&B, new wave, and synth-pop. Led by the charismatic Morris Day, the group gained notoriety for its dynamic performances and strong association with Prince. Throughout the early 1980s, they released four albums that featured hit songs such as "Jungle Love," "777-9311," and "The Bird," showcasing their unique style and musical prowess. In 1990, The Time reunited for the Graffiti Bridge movie and its accompanying soundtrack, marking a return to the spotlight. Years later, in 2011, they rebranded themselves as the Original 7ven and released the album Condensate, continuing to evolve their sound and legacy in the music industry. Key members of the band include notable figures like Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and Jesse Johnson, all of whom contributed to their signature sound and enduring influence.
