Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant stands out as a narrative folk album that blends humor and social commentary through storytelling and acoustic performances. Its title track, "Alice's Restaurant Massacree," unfolds with a conversational charm that helped define a certain strand of 1960s folk music, balancing wit with a laid-back critique of bureaucracy. Alongside songs like "The Motorcycle Song" and "Highway In The Wind," the album offers a relaxed yet focused listening experience, shaped by Guthrie’s distinctive voice and a small ensemble that keeps the arrangements intimate without losing their bite. This 1967 pressing on Reprise Records brings a genuine slice of that era’s sound, produced by Fred Hellerman with assistance from Al Brown. The vinyl’s VG++ condition means it’s glossy and very clean, with only minor surface marks that won’t detract from play. Owning this record is like holding a piece of musical storytelling history that doesn’t mind taking its time—after all, “Alice’s Restaurant” is famous for its length, so patience here is a virtue, not a drawback.

Sound samples are included to help you get a feel for the music, but they may not always match the exact pressing or track version of the record listed. When in doubt, trust the photos and pressing information - that's the actual record you're buying.
