Brother Jack McDuff - Screamin' - LP

Brother Jack McDuff – Screamin'

Brother Jack McDuff’s Screamin’ was cut at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, a fitting setting for this blues-oriented Prestige organ date. McDuff leads on organ with a sharp small-group lineup that includes Leo Wright on alto saxophone, Kenny Burrell on guitar, and Joe Dukes on drums. The set mixes McDuff originals like “Soulful Drums” and “Screamin” with covers including Nellie Lutcher’s “He's A Real Gone Guy” and Count Basie’s “One O'clock Jump,” giving it a nice bridge between soul-jazz drive and older jazz repertoire. This copy is a 1963 stereo reissue on vinyl, priced at $28. The record is graded VG++, a very clean, glossy grade where only tiny light marks, sleeve scuffs, or faint lines would be expected, with no major condition concerns implied. For a McDuff organ session with Kenny Burrell in the lineup, that clean vintage stereo copy is the key appeal here.
