Renaissance’s Turn Of The Cards put the English progressive rock band on Miles Copeland’s new BTM Records in 1974, giving the album a distinct place in their catalog. Musically, it returned toward the band’s folk-rock direction while bringing in harder rock elements, a useful bridge between their symphonic side and more direct rock instincts. It was also the first Renaissance album recorded after Michael Dunford joined as acoustic guitarist, after having written songs for their previous three albums. The Hipgnosis artwork matters here too: the cover features Warwick Castle, and the album title was inspired by that visual concept. This is a 1974 vinyl pressing priced at $10.00.
