Seconds of Pleasure captures the only studio outing by Rockpile, a collaboration featuring Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, Billy Bremner, and Terry Williams. Produced by Lowe and the band at Eden Studios in Chiswick, this 1980 album blends originals with spirited covers like Chuck Berry’s “Oh What A Thrill.” Its punchy opener “Teacher Teacher” made a modest splash on the Billboard Hot 100, reflecting the band’s knack for catchy, well-crafted rock infused with a bit of cheeky charm. The album holds a solid spot in the cult category, with songwriting and production that have aged with surprising grace. This vinyl pressing from 1980 offers a stereo listening experience that brings out the band’s tight interplay and energy. The record is in very clean condition, showing only minor signs of use, such as faint surface marks that won’t distract from play. It’s a fine example of how Rockpile combined their talents to deliver a snapshot of late ’70s British rock, perfect for anyone interested in the crossroads of pub rock and power pop. Given the band only released this single album under the Rockpile name, it’s a neat addition for collectors who appreciate a group that never quite settled into the mainstream but left a lasting impression nonetheless. After all, few bands can boast a name that doubles as a promise of instant gratification. Seconds Of Pleasure - Vinyl, LP, Album, Stereo.
