Rufusized captures Rufus at a creative peak in 1974, with Chaka Khan’s commanding vocals driving the band’s potent blend of funk and soul. As their third studio album and second release that year, it solidified Rufus’s presence on the charts, reaching the top ten and showcasing tight grooves and dynamic interplay. Tony Maiden’s vocal contribution adds a bit of variety, complementing Khan’s signature voice and giving the album a lively texture that helped define the group’s sound during this period. This 1974 vinyl pressing presents Rufusized in stereo, offering a snapshot of the era’s production and the band’s raw energy. The record is graded VG, indicating it plays well but carries some visible surface wear and may include occasional background noise. For anyone interested in the evolution of funk or the early work of Chaka Khan, this pressing offers an authentic listening experience without the polish of a later reissue. It’s a solid choice for those who appreciate the grooves of the ’70s delivered with a bit of honest age—after all, even great funk can have its wrinkles. Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan*.
