Wednesday Morning 3AM matters because it contains the original acoustic version of “The Sound of Silence,” the song that would be overdubbed with electric instruments in 1965 and open the door to Simon and Garfunkel’s breakthrough. The album is rooted in the duo’s early folk side, with originals like “Bleecker Street” and “Sparrow” alongside contemporary folk material, including a Bob Dylan interpretation. Tom Wilson produced the record, with Roy Halee engineering, and the Fifth Avenue/53rd Street subway cover photo gives its acoustic folk setting a very New York frame. This copy is a 1965 reissue vinyl pressing, a nice period copy for hearing the duo before the bigger studio-era records took over. At under $15, it is an affordable Simon and Garfunkel copy with honest vintage appeal. The record is graded VG, so expect more visible wear and possible background noise, while the songs remain the main reason to be here.
