Stoned Soul Picnic by The 5th Dimension offers a polished blend of soulful pop with intricate arrangements from Dayton “Bones” Howe and Ray Pohlman. The album features a warm mix of textures, including Larry Bunker’s vibraphone and marimba, and Hal Blaine’s precise membranophone work, all conducted by René DeKnight. Tracks like "California Soul" and "Sweet Blindness" showcase the group’s smooth harmonies and tight ensemble sound, making it a rewarding listen for anyone drawn to carefully crafted vocal groups with a touch of jazz influence. If you’ve ever wondered what it sounds like when a soul picnic is well catered, this record might just be the invitation. This 1968 vinyl pressing brings the album to your turntable in its original era format, with a condition that stands up well to regular play. Expect minor surface marks or scuffs typical of a VG+ grade, but nothing that should interfere with enjoying the music. The record’s acoustic ensemble approach and focused listening style place it nicely among late ’60s soul and pop collections, and its sound is as inviting as the title suggests. It’s a solid choice for those who appreciate classic vocal groups with a bit of instrumental flair, pressed on a single LP that fits comfortably on your shelf and in your rotation.

Sound samples are included to help you get a feel for the music, but they may not always match the exact pressing or track version of the record listed. When in doubt, trust the photos and pressing information - that's the actual record you're buying.
