Iron Butterfly emerged from San Diego in 1966 and quickly made a significant mark on the rock music scene. They gained widespread recognition with their iconic track "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," which became a massive hit in 1968 and was later certified gold by the RIAA. The band's second album, also titled "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," not only remains a best-seller but also held a spot on the Billboard charts for an impressive 140 weeks. In addition to their notable achievements, Iron Butterfly was the first band to receive an in-house platinum album award from Atlantic Records. Following their breakthrough, they embarked on their first national tour in the summer of 1968, sharing the stage with Jefferson Airplane. Their third album, "Ball," released in January 1969, achieved gold status, further solidifying their influence in the rock genre.
