Traffic – When The Eagle Flies

Traffic’s When The Eagle Flies came out in 1974, placing it in the band’s mature stretch where rock, jazz-rock, and progressive instincts were all still in play. The core group here is Jim Capaldi, Steve Winwood, and Chris Wood, with Rosko Gee on bass guitar, and Chris Blackwell among the producers. One interesting wrinkle is Winwood’s expanded keyboard palette, bringing Moog and Mellotron further into Traffic’s sound on tracks such as “Dream Gerrard” and “Walking In The Wind.” This is a 1974 vintage vinyl pressing priced at $10.00, making it an affordable Traffic copy with the right period feel. The record is graded VG+, so expect a few light lines, sleeve marks, or small scuffs, but not wear that should dominate the music. For the money, it’s a nice way to get a same-year pressing of a later Traffic studio album in a dependable everyday grade.
