Yes – The Yes Album

The Yes Album is a key early Yes record because it was both the band’s third studio album and their first LP made entirely of original material. Released in 1971 by Atlantic Records, it also introduced guitarist Steve Howe after Peter Banks’ departure, giving the band a new lineup at an important point in its development. It was also Tony Kaye’s last Yes studio album until his return on 90125 in 1983. The group worked up the new material at a farmhouse in Devon before recording at Advision Studios in London, with production credited to Yes and Eddie Offord. At under $15, this is an affordable Yes vinyl LP with strong early-’70s progressive rock context. This 1971 vinyl pressing is graded VG++, meaning the vinyl looks glossy and very clean overall, with only one or two tiny light marks, sleeve scuffs, or faint lines expected.
